Biography

ZHANG Huajie is a contemporary artist, filmmaker, and professor of art who has been engaging in deep and comprehensive artistic practices in the fields of painting, film, drama, conceptual and performance art for many years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in film photography from Beijing Film Academy and a PhD in art from Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts. He also served as a visiting scholar at Alfred University in the United States. ZHANG Huajie now works and lives in Australia. In 1989, He graduated from the Department of Photography at Beijing Film Academy with a bachelor’s degree in Film Photography. In 1995, he was a visiting scholar at Alfred University in New York. In 1999, he studied film directing at Howard University in the United States. He received her PhD in Art from Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in 2018. ZHANG Huajie is skilled in using multiple media and techniques, and constantly explores new artistic expressions from different angles while maintaining a free state in his creative process. His works integrate various elements and styles, demonstrating his unique insights and enthusiastic exploration into contemporary art, and are rich in visual impact and expressiveness.
