Biography

WANG Yi worked as an art editor for “Tianjin Evening News” after his graduation from Tianjin Fine Arts Institute in 1982. He founded “Shadows” Art Studio and engaged in the organisation of “Liang Shan” Art Exhibition Tour. WANG Yi has won numerous art awards and his works are highly valued as they embody the beauties of life, art and philosophy. He immigrated to Australia in 2006 and started to produce oil-portraits that brim with aesthetic charm of modern art using his precise and realistic techniques.  His self-portrait “Dragon Beard” and “Bishop and his cat” were selected for Archibald Portrait Exhibition in 2008 and in 2010 respectively. WANG Yi’s works are unique in the sense that he is adept at using the language of painting to express emotions and atmosphere. His works are characterised by strong personality and style, bringing deep feelings and thoughts to the audience. He is an artist with unique thinking and creativity.
