MA Sai Cheong (Chris)

BORN IN CHINA,
LIVES AND WORKS IN AUSTRALIA

Biography

Chris Ma, Australian Chinese ceramic scultor living in Sydney for over 20 years . He was born in Hong Kong in 1961, studied Art and Studio Ceramic in Hong Kong and later graduated from Wolverhampton University, UK. He also joined the International Workshop of Ceramic Art in Tokoname, Japan for Anagama.

 

Chris is now teaching ceramic in Willoughby Art Centre in Sydney. He was a demonstrator and visiting lecturer of Ceramic Art Courses in Hong Kong Museum of Art. He has exhibited many personal projects in more than 100 art exhibitions such as the XVI Bienal Internacional de Ceramica Artistica de Aveiro 2023 in Portugal, The 1st International Contemporary Material Art Biennale 2022 'MATERIAL THINKING' in China, Biennial North Queensland Ceramic Awards, Clunes Ceramic Awards Biennial and Sydney Teapot show 2022 in Australia, Contemporary Hong Kong Art Biennial, Hong Kong Ceramic Art, Taiwan Ceramics Biennial, Asian Art Exhibition of The 12th Asian Games Hiroshima Japan, Modern Art Exhibition by Philippe Charriol Foundation and The Phase of Chinese Contemporary Art the World-Wide Touring Exhibition.

 

His works are being collected by museums, galleries, universities, organizations and private collections in Hong Kong, China, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, UK, Canada, USA, Germany and France.
