Biography
FU Hong, a well-known Chinese-Australian oil painter. FU Hong was born in 1946 and graduated from the Institute of Arts & Design, Beijing, in 1966. Hong had his first solo exhibition in September 1988 at the China National Gallery in Beijing, China, moved to Australia in 1990, and has since become a professional artist. Hong was invited by Christie’s in 1994. In 2009, Hong was accredited to the “Historic Memorial Collection Register of Artists”, and has done portrait commissions for important figures. Hong won over forty Australian art awards, including Archibald Prize finalists in 2008, 2009, 2021, and 2022. In 2021, his previous entry was proudly selected to Archie 100 to exhibit. In 2022, Hong became a finalist for the Darling Portrait Prize, and his work was selected for the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra. By 2022, Hong had held nearly 70 solo exhibitions around the world.
