Biography
CHEN Xiuying graduated from the Hubei Art Institute. She is a member of the China Artists’ Association and is the vice president of the Australian Artists’ Association. With a career spanning over half a century, CHEN Xiuying has created many art pieces with her unique styles and has been awarded a great deal of art prizes. In the year 2000, Xiuying Chen was awarded the Certificate of “Outstanding Art Creator” by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). In 2013, Xiuying Chen’s artwork “Sydney Central Railway Station” won the 2013 Trustees’ Watercolour Prize at Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prize, exhibited in the Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW). Dr. Michael Brand, director of AGNSW at the time, commented in an interview that he was glad that Xiuying Chen’s work was selected, which reflects the artist’s creativity in combining Australian landscape beauty with traditional Chinese art language. CHEN Xiuying’s art portfolio include “Chen Xiuying’s Colour Painting Election”, “Da Su Ying Zi Art Studio Collection”, and “Ultimate Phoenix Album”.
