Biography

CAI Zixuan (Echo), is a female Chinese-Australian artist focusing on painting and literary creation. Zixuan graduated from the Department of Oriental Languages and Literature at Peking University in 1988 and settled soon after in Melbourne in 1989. In 2003, she began studying painting under the tutelage of Mr. FU Hong, a famous Chinese-Australian oil painter. Zixuan became a professional painter in 2005 and has since explored various art forms, including sculpture, film, installation, and curation. Her paintings have received great acclaim in Australia. She has been a finalist in numerous competitions, including Doug Moran National, Portrait Prize; Alice Contemporary Art Prize; Bayside Acquisitive Art Prize, Williamstown Contemporary Art Prize, Wyndham Art Prize, Hardley Prize, Nillumbik Art Prize, Cambridge Gallery Portrait Prize, Waverley Prize, etc. She has also won the Best Oil Painting Award at the Strathdon Art Show for two years. As of 2022, her artwork has been exhibited over 20 times across Australia, and has been widely collected in Australia, China, and the United Kingdom.
